An Interview with ~moyanII
:iconmoyanii:

1. Tell us a bit about yourself!

i'm more of a painter than poet. i mainly do digital painting of semi-realism/fantasy genre. however, i'm still the huge fan of traditional art, graphite (monochrome or colored) is my forte. although lately i'm quite hooked on chinese ink painting too.

haiku writing is an offshoot of my love of japanese language. i love classical literature and am therefore thrilled to be able to produce my own poetry.

2. Where do you draw inspiration from?

my surroundings, my pets, the street i walked on, the trees that grow beside the walkway, the color of the sky... actually i'm not sure exactly where.
inspiration is an elusive child, he hides in the most unexpected place and you have to look hard to find him.

3. Tell us about something that made you laugh recently.

silly jokes from my friends, playful stunts of my cats. many things made me laugh, even the bouncy, jelly-like belly of my fat cat made me laugh my head off.

4. Who are your favorite artists outside of dA?

norman rockwell, he's a favorite in the genre of realistic journalism.

akemi takada, an anime character designer/novel illustrator who have been my mentor and inspiration when i was so new in painting.

mecha designers of those UC gundam series, they are great!

5. Why are you on dA?

i enjoy the community. there are great people here in dA.

6. Who are your favorite dA members and why?

john and jade are sweet.
all my haijin friends are great.

7. What piece from your gallery do you like the most? Why?

i like my most recent ink painting: Heavenly Waters
i've got the hang of the chinese calligraphy brush and manage to tame the extremely temperamental rice paper.

haikuwrimo summer 2008
my favorite haiku set. summer is my season.

8. Why did you join The Haiku Club?

i wanna support `Iscariot-Priest who is the founder of the club.
and of course, i join because i'm a haijin.

:star: The Haiku Club was actually founded by *Sano-Balron. `Iscariot-Priest is one of our admins.

9. What Eastern poetry forms are you familiar with? Do you have a favorite?

i learned chinese classical poetry since childhood. that's part of our educational curriculum. (sadly, the kids nowaday don't do these things anymore.) chinese classical poems includes free verses from the song dynasty (song ci), the fixed structural poem from tang dynasty(5 x4, and 7x4 with rigid rhyme, tang shi), the poetic scripture (shi jing), 1000-word essay (qian zi wen)
i'm relatively new to japanese haiku actually.

10. What question would you like to ask the other members?

what other hobbies/craze do you have other than reading and writing haiku?

i draw, paint, read, study of aromatherapy, cats. at the moment, only these.

In response to ~moyanII's comment about my founding the club, it was actually *Sano-Balron who founded it, I'm just one of the admin. :)
