As the season draws closer to solstice we find ourselves spending more time indoors appreciating the comforts of home.  Pull up a chair next to the hearth (or a/c for our friends in the Southern Hemisphere) and tell us about yours.

Rules

Write an original poem using an Eastern poetry form of your choice. Your poem should follow the style and structure guidelines for the chosen form. Remember to mention the form you chose and include a reference to this contest and journal entry in your deviation comments. Then submit your deviation to our 2014 Events gallery. If accepted it will be added to the contest collection and journal. One entry per contest, please.

Prizes

Winner will receive:
  • A small 11x8 cm notebook for jotting down Eastern poetry contributed by Formel
  • Two poetry books-Loop by Anne Simpson (Griffin Poetry Prize Canadian Winner 2004), and processional by Anne Compton; winner of a Governor General's Literary Award, contributed by somnomollior


The top three selections will receive:

All entrants will be added to the quarterly prize drawing.  Completing challenge goals and working with under-represented forms counts double.  On January 1st, 2015 a winner will be randomly drawn and given the choice of either:
