2015 January Renga Tree (Journal): Closed

It is a Japanese custom to write with a writing brush on the second day of the new year.  Join the Haiku Club as we celebrate this custom with a Renga Tree.  A Renga Tree is an open form of renga in which anyone may post a response to any previously posted response.  The result is a branching "tree" of poems beginning with a single "seed". 

Here is a Renga Tree stamp to include in your journal or deviation comments.

     百福の始るふいご始哉

     hyakufuku no hajimeru fuigo hajime kana

     starting the New Year's luck
     first stoke
     of the fire

Rules:

• You may post as many responses as you like!  This ends up being an endurance challenge of sorts.
• Choose any poem listed below and reply to it with an original deviation of your own.  Don't worry if it has already had responses, part of the point is to have multiple replies to each poem.
• The forms used in this event are haiku and senryu.
• Name your work whatever you like.
• Include in your Artist's Comments:
  • A clear statement that you want people to reply to your poem.
  • A link to our event journal so that others can join in the fun.
  • A link to the deviation you are responding to so that others can walk up the tree from yours.
• Leave a comment on the deviation you are responding to so others reading their poem can walk down the tree to yours.
• Submit your deviation to our 2015 Events Gallery

We will be updating this as new poems are added, so keep checking back to watch the tree grow!

UPDATE:  It's official, dA cannot contain your awesome creative power!  This journal has reached the 64kb size limit, so I've created another post to contain just the tree itself.  We've got another day or two left, so keep the entries coming in and I'll jenga this renga together somehow.

All entrants will be added to the quarterly prize drawing.  Completing challenge goals and working with under-represented forms counts double.  On April 1st, 2015 a winner will be randomly drawn and given the choice of either:
