Inspiration
"The lime trees were in bloom. But in the early morning only a faint fragrance drifted through the garden, an airy message, an aromatic echo of the dreams during the short summer night."
- Isak Dinesen, Winter's Tales
As spring gives way to summer nature unveils its full palette of fragrances. Whether it's a particular flower, fresh-cut grass, or the smell of rain, join the Haiku Club as we celebrate the beginning of summer by reminiscing over our favorite scents.

Write about a scent you've experienced recently (no matter what season you're in)
Write about a memory triggered by a scent
Create your own perfume. Name it and describe it as you will. There is a line of Imaginary Author scents that are delightful to read through. Here is an example to whet your imagination:
FALLING INTO THE SEA
At the age of nineteen Nica Galas published her first book, the autobiographical tome
Falling into the Sea which chronicled her short and torrid love affair among the hot
beaches and lemon trees in the Gulf of Naples. The breathtaking story opens with Nica
and her girlfriends picking bunches of jasmine flower for boys while they cliff-jumped
into the sea. An innocent first kiss erupts into an ardent summer entanglement which
is cut short one moonlit night when her lover leaps into the dark abyss never to
surface, leaving Nica naked on the cliffs screaming his name.
WHEN TO WEAR: This scent is sunshine in a bottle. Wear on cloudy days to invoke
the ardor of summer.
NOTES: Lemon, Bergamot, Grapefruit, Lychee, Tropical Flowers & Warm Sand
