In a Nutshell
  • An early form of Japanese poetry best represented by the bussokuseki, a collection of poetry engraved at a shrine in Nara. Like sedoka, they are made up of six lines, but are not made up of two stanzas; they are closer to tanka in form, with a 5/7/5/7/7/7 pattern.
